I would appreciate prayer as we travel to Israel, March 7-18. On Monday morning, Gerri and I and 20 other IBC’ers will head by bus for the Newark, NJ airport. At 4:10 PM, we are scheduled to depart with the BCM Holy Land Tour group on a direct flight (10 hours) to Tel Aviv, Israel.
It will be a joy to partner with tour leader Missionary Bob (and Corrie) Evans and Bible teacher Dr. Homer (and Pat) Heater. Retired IBC missionaries and good friends Steve and Pat Moseley will also be on the tour.
This will be my fourth trip to Israel and I have learned a lot each time. It is so helpful to see firsthand where Bible events took place and be able to picture them when reading God’s Word. This particular tour will focus on the events of the Life of Jesus. I have been asked to give a message at the following sites:
Nazareth
Caesarea Philippi (“Upon this rock…”)
Gergesa (where Jesus cast out a legion of demons)
Mount of Temptation
Gethsemane
Garden Tomb (message and lead communion)
Also, baptize in the Jordan River at least 5 of our group who have not been baptized
There is something unique and energizing about speaking from a passage at the very spot (or close by) where the event occurred.
Prayer Requests include:
1. All negative COVID tests before departure (or that person won’t be allowed on the flight) AND for the two more we all must take in Israel.
2. Health and safety throughout the journey.
3. Logistical touring details to go smoothly.
4. Open minds and hearts to what the Lord has to teach each of us on this study tour.
5. Great fellowship among the entire group of 49.
6. Clear testimony to unbelievers we encounter, especially our Jewish hosts.
We are excited and thankful that we are able to go. This trip was canceled due to COVID in 2020; and so many of this group have been waiting over two years. We are grateful that the door is open at this time. You may have to endure stories or pictures that I will bring back.
Thank you and SHALOM!
